STEAM Sundays

STEAM Sundays

STEAM Sundays is a podcast our students started, where they wanted to learn more about topics in STEAM and connect with experts to share their knowledge. The first season featured 9 episodes with a large emphasis on community and environment. Thank you to everyone who helped make STEAM Sundays possible, and for sharing your knowledge with a curious community.

Sit down with Robert A. DiGiovanni, Jr., Founder and Chief Scientist at the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society (AMSEAS), for an in-depth conversation about ocean pollution, sustainability, and the role of engineering in tackling these challenges. The POBots have previously partnered with AMSEAS to participate in several beach cleanups at Lido Beach and Point Lookout Beach, and we’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity to reconnect and continue supporting this important cause.

Sit down with Dr. Lauren Heckelman, Lecturer in the Discipline of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, for an in-depth conversation about healthcare, medicine, and the impact of bioengineering. The POBots are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to speak with someone who possesses such insightful expertise and a high level of knowledge in STEM!

Sit down with Nadav Marcus-Neuman, Founder of Elastic and a proud POBots alum, for an insightful discussion about Elastic’s origins, its competitors, and its success in FRC. The POBots are thrilled to reconnect with Nadav and wish him the best of luck in his Spring Semester at Binghamton University, where he will continue his pursuit of a degree in Computer Engineering.

Sit down with Mrs. Patanjo, the advisor for FLL Team #15261, The Rockin’ Robos, for an inspiring conversation about the lasting impact FLL has—not only on the kids, but also on her journey as a mentor. The POBots are especially excited to chat with Mrs. Patanjo, as she was one of the first people to encourage them to pursue robotics. Best of luck to The Rockin’ Robos at their upcoming competition. We’re rooting for you!

Sit down with Richard Humann, President and CEO of H2M Architects + Engineers, for an insightful conversation about the journey of a Mechanical Engineer and the path from intern to CEO of an engineering consulting firm. The POBots are honored to discuss the current and future landscape of engineering with Mr. Humann, especially as many of us are considering pursuing engineering careers beyond high school. Once again, we want to express our gratitude to Mr. Humann for inspiring us with his expertise and giving us a true glimpse into what it’s like to be an engineer.

Sit down with Justus, a POBots alum and foreign exchange student from Germany, for an insightful conversation about spreading awareness of STEAM. We thank Justus for spreading our “STEM is Fun” Booklets to his local schools in Germany. This has allowed the POBots to have an impact not only nationally but internationally. Once again, we want to express our gratitude to Justus for inspiring us with his story and giving us the chance to spread STEM education and the mission of FIRST to Germany!

Sit down with the Vice President of Severud Associates to learn more about their engineering firm and how they grow and help the community.

Sit down with Gary, an engineer from BAE Systems, to learn how they build some of the most advanced aerospace and security systems.

Sit down the POBots as we compete at the 2025 Hudson Valley Regional!

Every year at our High School, we host an annual Engineering Awareness Night (EAN), where we all set up and run different stations and teach STEM to elementary and middle school students. Join Jacob, Shreena, and Rowan as they take a look inside EAN as they interview STEAM professionals and students in this first and exciting episode of STEAM SUNDAYS!

What if learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math didn’t depend on where you live or how much money you have? On this episode of STEAM Sundays, we’re joined by iMission Youth Global, a nonprofit organization working to make high-quality STEAM education accessible to students in underrepresented communities around the world!

JP and Rowan talk with Adam Spivack, co-founder of STEAMcraft Studio, about the impact STEAMcraft has made through creativity and STEAM education.

In this episode, the POBots, Team 353, are at Lido Beach, as they work with the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society (AMSEAS) picking up litter off the coast.

In this episode, we’re once again joined by iMission Youth Global, a nonprofit organization working to make high-quality STEAM education accessible to students in underrepresented communities around the world!

In this episode, the POBots are joined by an Imagineer from Walt Disney Studios who works to create the Disney magic!

In this episode, the POBots are interviewing members of FIRST LEGO League competition teams and understanding more about the work they do.

In this episode, the POBots are competing at the Finger Lakes Regional in Rochester. Check out the competition we got to attend for the first time and make countless new friends.
